At Orthopedic Institute, we want to say THANK YOU for serving to all veterans who are family, friends, co-workers, neighbors and especially our patients. Here is a story shared by one of our patients who was a World War II Artillery Gunner, Clifford Olson.
Clifford Olson is a delightful patient who is 89 years old and has been seeing Dr. Peter Looby for shoulder problems recently. Here is his story:
“I was in World War II in the 41st Infantry Division. I was an Artillery Gunner in the Philippines in 1944. I received an honorable discharge in 1946. I was hurt while in Japan. I was in an open truck and the driver took a wrong road and flipped the vehicle. A couple of guys were killed; some lost limbs. I sustained a concussion from a broken bone in my head and was on pain medicine every four hours. I spent time in three different hospitals with the majority of time, six weeks, at Madigan Army Medical Center.”
The World War II 41st Infantry Division had 273 servicemen killed in action, 3,504 wounded in action, and 217 died of their wounds.
Thank you, Clifford, for your service from Orthopedic Institute!
